An unpainted wooden Turning Pyramid Nativity from Schalling.
Anyone who has visited Germany at Christmas time will recognise these. This one is the two level version that is powered by the heat of the six candles around the outside of the base. As the heat rises it turn the propeller at the top which turns the plate on which the nativity figures (Jesus, Mary and Joseph. Ox and Donkey) sit at the bottom. In the layer above are three Halleluja Angels with prayer books. This top level does not turn. The figures are all from the 6cm sets that can be seen and bought in The Tree House. The speed of the turning can be adjusted by changing the angle of the blades in the propeller.
