A beautifully carved Tawny Owl.

Carved from one piece of English Brown Oak (Quercus spp).
Brown Oak is created by the beef steak fungus you sometimes see growing on Oak trees. The fungus looks like a dinner plate stuck in the trunk. They add their spores to the wood and give the wood darker brown streaked look that makes the wood even more desirable than standard Oak and makes the wood sell at a premium
The Owl is shown sitting on a tree stump. It is quite a big carving and would sit beautifully on a newel post at the bottom of an Oak staircase

The whole carving is 20cm or 8" tall
The base is 3.5 to 4" across
